Fees
What you'll pay, what you can claim back, and how cancellations work.
Private therapy
- Initial consultation (60 min)

Rebates require a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP and apply to up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
With a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP you can claim a Medicare rebate on up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year. Ask your GP to send the referral and plan through the referral form or email it to luca@thinkfirstpsychology.com.au, or you can bring it to your first session, so the rebate can be processed on the day. You pay by card at each session, and your Medicare rebate is claimed for you on the day. You don't need a referral to book. The referral only affects the rebate.
Some private health funds offer a rebate on psychology under extras cover. You can't claim both Medicare and private health for the same session.
Workers compensation and CTP
Workers compensation: no cost to you for approved treatment once your claim is accepted. Fees are set by SIRA and paid directly by the insurer. CTP (motor accident): the same fees as workers compensation, billed to the CTP insurer once they have approved treatment. Please make sure your CTP claim is lodged before your first session. If the insurer declines treatment, the fees become your responsibility, and I'll talk this through with you before we start.
Performance programs
Offered in blocks rather than single sessions. Not eligible for Medicare rebates, as performance coaching isn't a rebatable psychological service.
- Athlete Performance Program (12 × 50 min, plus on-field, course or court observation and analysis): $3,000
- Exam & HSC Performance Program (5 × 50 min): $1,000
- Team or squad presentation (60 to 90 min): $600
- Club season retainer: by arrangement, depending on the level of support. Contact for details.
- Corporate workshop: $2,000 half day, $4,000 full day
Cancellations
More than 48 hours' notice: no charge. Between 24 and 48 hours: 50%. Less than 24 hours or non-attendance: full fee. Medicare rebates don't apply to cancellation fees.
Cancellation and non-attendance fees never apply to workers compensation or CTP clients.
