Therapy
Psychologist for burnout in high achievers, Sydney
Burnout is not the same as being tired, and it doesn't resolve with a holiday. It's feeling worn out, switched off from work you used to care about, and as if nothing you do makes a difference, all at once.
A free 15-minute phone call to see whether we're a good fit. No cost, and no need to have it all worked out.
If you're not safe right now, call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
Why high performers burn out specifically
The traits that produced the career (high standards, responsiveness, an unwillingness to let anyone down, an identity fused with output) are the same traits that prevent you from stopping. Most people arrive already knowing they should rest, and unable to.
What burnout therapy covers
- Recovering baseline function: sleep, load, and genuine detachment from work
- The perfectionism, and the sense that you're only as good as your last result, underneath it all
- Boundaries with an organisation that will accept everything you offer
- Working out which parts are situational and which will follow you to the next job
- Whether to repair the role or leave it
Sessions that fit a real schedule
Early morning and evening appointments are available by arrangement (mention it on your free call, or email luca@thinkfirstpsychology.com.au), and video sessions make it easier to fit therapy around work. Therapy for burnout shouldn't have to compete with the middle of your working day.
Fees, Medicare rebates and appointments
With a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, a Medicare rebate applies to up to 10 sessions per calendar year. You don't need a referral to start.
Available in person in Five Dock, or by video anywhere in NSW.
