Frequently asked questions
The questions people actually ask before they make contact.
Book a free 15-minute phone call at a time that suits you. If we agree it's a good fit, I'll send a short intake form and appointment details through Halaxy, the practice's secure system, and you'll get an SMS and email reminder before each appointment. Seeing your GP first? Show them this page.
Not to see me privately. You need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP if you want a Medicare rebate, and you need a referral from your nominated treating doctor for workers compensation treatment.
Your first appointment is 60 minutes. Standard sessions after that are 50 minutes. Extended 90-minute sessions are also available.
Before that, we'll have a free 15-minute phone call to check I'm the right fit. The first session itself is an assessment: history, current function, risk, and what you want to be different. No trauma detail unless you offer it. By session two I'll tell you what I think is maintaining the problem.
Almost always. The exceptions are where there is a serious and imminent risk to someone's safety, where the law requires disclosure, and where mandatory reporting applies. If your treatment is funded under a workers compensation or CTP claim, progress and capacity information goes to your insurer, not verbatim session content, and I'll tell you what is in a report before it goes.
No. Medicare rebates reduce the cost but there is a gap. Workers compensation and CTP clients pay nothing for approved treatment under an accepted claim.
Within 10 days for new clients.
Yes, from 12 (high school age), with a parent or guardian's consent. A parent or guardian books the free 15-minute call.
No. I don't provide independent medico-legal assessments of my own clients, expert witness reports, custody assessments or fitness-for-duty determinations.
Yes, anywhere in NSW, with the same Medicare rebate and the same workers compensation arrangements as in-person sessions.
I review progress formally every six sessions. If it isn't working, I'll raise it and we'll change the approach, or I'll refer you to someone better suited.
